Transfer tax

For second hand properties you pay a transfer tax of 6.5 % of the purchase price. New properties are charged a tax of 7% ( I.G.I.C. ) + 1 % (AJD), all together 8% taxes. The latter also applies to properties that change ownership for the first time, regardless of year of construction.

The Notary

The Notary is a public control body that manages real estate transactions in Spain. The price depends on the work, and it normally costs 1500-€1800

The property register 

The Notary sends the purchase contract (deed) within 24 hours to the property register for registration. It may take up to 3 months for your original deed to be returned from the property register. The price depends on the work and normally costs 1000-€1500.

Financial overview
